
Chris Adin, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Christopher Adin is a board certified surgeon at the Veterinary Specialists of Rochester. Dr. Adin is from the Rochester area and graduated from McQuaid Jesuit High School in 1988. He graduated from Duke University in 1992 with a BS in Biology and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with distinction from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. After completing a small animal internship at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital, he performed the Fellowship in Renal Medicine and Dialysis at the University of California, Davis in 1998. Following this year, Dr. Adin completed his surgery residency at UCDavis and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2002.
Prior to joining the Veterinary Specialists of Rochester, Dr. Adin was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine from 2001-2006. Awards Dr. Adin has received include the ACVS Resident Research Award, the American Association of Veterinary Clinicians Resident of the Year Award, and the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine Superior Accomplishment Award. His research at the University Florida included organ transplantation, and improving techniques for treatment of incontinence and for intrahepatic shunt correction. Dr. Adin has authored many journal articles in the Journal of Physiology, the Journal of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, the American Journal of Veterinary Research and the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Areas of special interest for Dr. Adin include soft tissue surgery, especially portosystemic shunt correction, cardiovascular surgery and minimally invasive surgery such as laparoscopic and thoracoscopic techniques.
Dr. Christopher Adin is married to Dr. Darcy Adin, a board certified cardiologist and they live with their 2 little girls, Grace and Amelia. They have 2 cats and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dog.

Kathy Collins, DVM, DACVS, CCRP
A specialist in veterinary surgery, Dr. Kathleen Collins received her undergraduate training from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. In 1987 she was admitted to the Atlantic Veterinary College/University of Prince Edward Island and graduated with her DVM Degree in 1991.
After practicing for five years, Dr. Collins was admitted to a medicine and surgery internship at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following her year at Kansas State, she was awarded a residency program in small animal surgery at the University of Florida.
After completing her 3-year surgery residency, Dr. Collins passed her board certification examination and was admitted as a Diplomate into the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. With professional interests in wound management, physical rehabilitation and orthopedics, Dr. Collins practices soft tissue, orthopedic and neurosurgery for the Veterinary Specialists of Rochester.
During her leisure time, Dr. Collins enjoys hockey, basketball, softball, running, cycling, gardening and spending time with her 3 cats (Spencer, Elliott & Sebastian).

James Fingeroth, DVM, DACVS
Board-certified surgeon, Dr. James Fingeroth, graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Fingeroth earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Hobart College in nearby Geneva, NY, where he graduated summa cum laude, first in his class. As an undergraduate he garnered an academic scholarship and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society, in his junior year. During veterinary school Dr. Fingeroth was similarly honored with junior year election to Phi Zeta, the national academic honor society in veterinary medicine. Upon graduation with his DVM, Dr. Fingeroth also received the inaugural Gary R. Bolton Memorial award for excellence in cardiology.
Following veterinary school, Dr. Fingeroth was selected as an intern at New York City's prestigious and world-renowned Animal Medical Center. He continued for an additional year at the AMC, having been selected as one of three surgical residents. Dr. Fingeroth moved on to The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH for completion of the final two years of his residency training. At the completion of his formal residency he was invited to stay on at Ohio State in a faculty position, where he continued for another two years. In 1988 Dr. Fingeroth passed the rigorous examination administered by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, and became a Diplomate of the College of Surgeons. At that time Dr. Fingeroth was one of only approximately 350 board-certified veterinary surgeons in the world.
That same year, 1988, Dr. Fingeroth relocated to Rochester where he was the initial member of Veterinary Specialists of Rochester. In 1998 Dr. Fingeroth oversaw the move of VSR from its former location at Pittsford Animal Hospital to its current location on White Spruce Blvd in the town of Brighton. As the initial member of VSR, Dr. Fingeroth has welcomed all our other fine specialists. He has pioneered the use of advanced, cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI scans) for animals in the Rochester area, has published numerous journal articles and textbook chapters, and has spoken at continuing education meetings at the local, state and national levels. Dr. Fingeroth serves as a reviewer for several prestigious veterinary journals.
Dr. Fingeroth practices general surgery, including orthopedics, traumatology, neurosurgery, oncologic (cancer) surgery, reconstructive surgery, soft tissue surgery of the chest and abdomen, and joint replacement.
Dr. Fingeroth's wife, Robbie, is a former local kindergarten teacher. Together they enjoy many hobbies, including horseback riding, flying (Dr. Fingeroth has been a licensed pilot for over 30 years), and sharing their lives with a menagerie of animals that includes numerous dogs, cats, rodents, and horses.
